Beautiful day!

Left Villatuerta this morning light headed and dizzy, but one step into the cool morning breathes new life into me. It is overcast and cloudy ( all day) which is wonderful because there is a nice breeze. Just two blocks away from the Albergue I am at a crossroads with no waymarking, but again someone comes to my aid. A car drives by, I signal questioningly, straight on, and he gives me the okay nod. If everything in life were only that simple, always someone to tell you which way to go ( and it´s always the right way!) but then, we would not grow from the detours and wrong turns.

I meet up with Tom and June (from Ireland) about 7km from Los Arcos (where I plan to stop for the day). June looks at my feet while I´m giving them a rest and notices some hot spots, my toes are killing me. She does a quick bandage job, hopefully it will keep me from getting blisters on the tips of my toes.

The scenery is beautiful, and I´m actually able to enjoy it and not consentrate on getting a bike up a hill or manuevering around large rocks. Much more enjoyable day!

Mountains all around and walking right alongside several vineyards. Tom breaks off some grapes for me to try, I wouldn´t have helepd myself, but now I have to eat them, don´t want them to go to waste. Very sweet, 3 to 4 seeds in each small grape, they are wonderful!

Several times today, looking at the beauty around me I smile and say, Ï am in Spain!¨
(thank you Peirre).

One last thing, there are water fountains in each town, some even between towns for the pilgrims. Came across one today that had two spickets- one for water and one for wine. ( No joking, as much as you want to take) I have a picture to prove it for you doubters!

Until next time...

  1. Congratulations on a great start! Be sure and take care of those feet. If you see Compeed blister patches in a store, buy them. -- Do you have a detailed map? It would be interesting to hear if the bookstores have any.

  2. Missed you at the Wednesday night teen meeting. Everything went good. We played Gestures. We also kept Mark company and out of trouble for you (he really wasn't in trouble). Things are going good, just keeping up with all the football games (Unity tonight, U of I tomorrow, and Robbie's on Sunday). Sounds like lots of beautiful things to see and eat and drink (wine, really?!) along the way. It's awesome to hear that God is giving you some great helpers along the way! Maybe some are angels (could be, especially since He also provided wine for you)! Thanks for blogging it's great to hear how it is all going. I'll be praying for your physical (especially your feet and toes), emotional, intellectual, and spiritual journey! Peace, love, and happiness! Shelly

  5. Terri,
What a wonderful day for you! It's great to have pilgrim helpers along the path! You've been just such a helper to many people. Do you remember you kept our family the first night when we first moved to Champaign, in August of 1992! Thinking of you!

  6. Terri: So glad that you are hooking up w. some incredible helpers along the way! Know that you have been in our thoughts & prayers...we had a really cold wet night last nite at football and i'm so glad you aren't having any of our weather! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, one step at a time is how we make it thru this life of ours! And many times we have to sit and take a breather along the way :) Enjoy and know we love you! angela
